Albania is expected to experience an economic growth of 3.7% in 2025. This is the latest forecast from the report published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Balkans, which maintains the same projection as the one made in February 2024.
According to the EBRD, economic growth in 2024 was 3.9%, driven by sectors such as tourism, services, and construction, as well as by private consumption and public investments.
The EBRD notes that the continuation of structural reforms, a strong commitment to EU membership, and the potential to secure more funds and financing from the EU will be supportive factors for economic growth in 2025.
Regarding the Western Balkans, economic growth remained at the same level as in 2023, at 3.5%, due to weak external demand from the region’s most important trading partner, the European Union.
Tourism has remained strong, particularly in Albania and Kosovo (including visits from the diaspora in Western Europe), and to a lesser extent in Montenegro. The report emphasizes that the region’s economy is expected to grow by 3.6% in 2026.
